This year, the Coasters with Mwah camp are swapping high-speed thrills for high-stakes chills… because we’re running at Alton Towers! That’s right—while most people go there to scream their lungs out on The Smiler, we’ll be screaming for entirely different reasons as we attempt to conquer Run Alton Towers. In this 5k run on 16th November we’re trading fast passes for running shoes, and if you thought making it through 14 inversions was tough, just wait until you see us after mile two. We’re ready to give the other runners some stale competition, and trust us, we’re bringing the drama—like it’s the final round of The X Factor and we’re begging Simon not to send us home. Except this time, the only thing we’re trying to win is the ability to walk the next day!
But in all seriousness, this challenge means so much to us. We lost our beloved Poppy, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, back in September. To honor her memory, we’re raising money for Staffie and Stray Rescue, a charity that’s not only close to our hearts but also close to home. They specialize in taking in dogs who’ve had a rough start, giving them a second chance at happiness.
To prepare for this mighty feat, we’ve been pounding the pavement, clocking up the miles, and discovering muscles we didn’t even know we had. Training has been a rollercoaster in itself—one minute we’re feeling like marathon pros, the next we’re contemplating whether crawling to the finish line is an acceptable strategy. But we’re determined to push through and cross that finish line, no matter how many snack breaks it takes.
What better place to run our first-ever event than at one of our favorite places in the world, Alton Towers? Thank you so much in advance for supporting this cause that means everything to us.
More information about Staffie and Stray Rescue:
Staffie and Stray Rescue (SSR) specialize in taking in more difficult dogs that are considered harder to rehome in the rescue world. Many of their dogs come from pounds, while others have had traumatic backgrounds. They also help families in need who, due to unfortunate circumstances, are looking to rehome their dogs. SSR uses foster homes and emergency boarding kennels to care for these dogs while they search for forever homes.
Any donations will be much appreciated and I will be posting updates throughout our training process!
