4 Ultramarathons in 4 days for Suicide Prevention
After losing a friend to suicide in 2022, I decided to raise money for 'PAPYRUS', a charity that focuses on mental health, educating, and providing support surrounding this.
They provide extensive suicide prevention support to young people via their HOPELINE 24/7 and educational training and resources. Below is how your donations can support:
- £5 can pay for a call to HOPELINE247
- £20 can pay for a resource pack supporting teachers
- £65 can keep helpline, text, and email services running an extra hour
- £200 can cover the cost of training someone in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), a 2-day course that prepares caregivers to provide suicide first aid interventions.
I completed my first ultramarathon at 15, running from Tonbridge to Brighton (58km). This run will be 300km and a much larger challenge. It will start on the beaches of Rome and end in Pescara. The goal is to complete the run within 4 days (running about 50 miles per day). I have accommodation along the way. Some food will be carried and the route means food can be picked up over the run. Throughout the run, I will update the page on how it is going.
I am arriving in Rome on the 2nd of July and leaving from Pescara on the 10th of July. This gives enough time to get to the other side of Italy on foot should anything go wrong.
The financing for this trip is entirely separate from the money donated via this page to 'PAPYRUS'. I will be financing this trip myself. Any donation to 'PAPYRUS' is useful and welcomed.
If you don't have money to donate right now, I kindly ask you to simply check up on someone who might be struggling with something right now. Thanks :)
