In August of 1994, my dad decided it would be fun to go on a running adventure and run across the state of Iowa in 8 days. Nobody doubted that he could do it, including him. His goal was ultimately to raise money to help fund a new library in our hometown of Stanwood. He ended up raising $5000. When he passed away in 2018, I vowed to honor him to the best of my abilities with continuing to do different things in running.
Well, 30 years later, I am going to attempt to run across the state of Iowa (virtually for all but the last 6 miles). My goal is to do it in 30 days in August and to hopefully raise enough money for my family to finally get a cemetery memorial marker for my dad (and mom). We have had a memorial fund in place since 2018 but have not been able to accumulate enough to do this. We are hopeful that we can accomplish this very soon and this is one way I know how to help us.
