This month I am running 62 miles to support the American Cancer Society and their work to end cancer.
This cause is deeply personal to me. As most of you know, I lost my best friend Alyssa in August to pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer. She lived with more joy, grit, and intention than anyone I’ve ever known, and honoring her by doing something that genuinely challenges me just felt right to kick off the year.
Anyone who knows me, knows I am NOT a runner. So committing to running 62 miles this month is my way of showing up for a cause I believe in with my whole heart, and for someone who taught me to say yes to life even when it was hard.
Every mile and every dollar supports the work to end cancer. I know Alyssa will be laughing at me as I push through these runs, absolutely cheering me on, reminding me to keep going, and making sure I don’t forget to enjoy it along the way. I am hopeful that this challenge, and everyone who is part of it, can help make a real and meaningful difference this January.
