Run 155 miles through the Sahara Desert in 6 days

Tax deductible
Every few years I ask friends and family if they would like to support a charity that really means a lot to me, so here it is. My brother and I will be taking part in Marathon Des Sables next week, it starts on March 27th and we'll be trying to run around 250km/155 miles over 6 days through the Sahara Desert in Morocco. We are paying for the whole event ourselves, so any money raised will go directly to the charity Self Help Africa.

Don't be fooled by the name, yes - Self Help Africa does fantastic work across the African continent (many programs I've seen for myself in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia) but they're also supporting Ukrainian refugees who have fled the war into Slovakia. They are an incredible organization that I had the privilege of working with in the past, and I know for sure that whatever you can donate will go directly to supporting people in need.

The race next week is going to be brutal, we know that for sure. It's a self-supported run so we'll have to carry all our own food, clothing, sleeping bag, sleeping matt, equipment etc. in a backpack. The only thing they set up for us is a tarp that will cover us at night, it will be completely open on two sides.......bring on those sandstorms :) It will be gruelling for sure but how could we ever complain with the suffering taking place in the Ukraine right now.

Donate whatever you can afford, every little bit helps. Thank you in advance. I'll update this page with both William's and my own tracking number that you'll be able to use on the Marathon Des Sables website.

See you on the other side,
James.
