Run 100Km for youth mental health
Team BCRT will be running the Coastline Endurance Mount Finlayson 28K/50K/100K running race, on September 9th, 2022 https://www.coastlineendurancerunning.com/finlayson-arm-races/
We are raising funds to make a difference for youth mental health in order to benefit Cowichan Valley Youth Services Society (CVYS). This cause is dear to our hearts as CVYS has helped our team members family tremendously by supporting our loved ones during extremely difficult times.
Here is the personal story from one of our family members:
For years I have been struggling with my mental health. It started when I was 5 years old. My parents didn't realize something was wrong until they began to see signs of anxiety and depression. Fast forward to when I was 9, when my mother suffered a nearly fatal brain injury from a ruptured brain aneurysm, which caused my mental health to spiral down from there. I got a counselor from CVYS, who helped get me a diagnosis and proper medication to help. They also helped support me in a general way, realize my life's triggers, and cope with the trauma. They helped me find a social worker and psychologist to help me put together safety plans and coping skills. CVYS is a training facility for new counselors so they are not perfect but I think that is what makes them so good, because I felt like I was getting help from real people. They helped me get help through hospitalization but didn't force me into anything. I'm now 13 and will never forget all they have done for me. I'd like to thank all my counselors from CVYS and I'd like to encourage you to donate so they can continue to help struggling youth like me.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
