On March 16 2024, my world changed forever. My mother was diagnosed with stage 2 pancreatic cancer. My mother underwent a life-saving surgery where doctors removed part of her stomach, part of her pancreas, her entire spleen, and 27 nodules on May22, 2024. Watching her go through this fight has been one of the hardest experiences of my life — but it has also shown me the strength, courage, and determination that cancer patients summon every single day.

I don’t want anyone else to have to go through what my mom and so many others face. That’s why I’m dedicating myself to raising funds for the American Cancer Society, an organization that supports patients, advances research, and fights for a future without cancer.

To honor my mom’s fight, I’ve set myself a challenge: I’m going to run 100 miles. And I’ll be starting this journey on a meaningful day — my birthday, Tuesday, September 23. Instead of celebrating for myself, I want to use that day to give back, to fight for more birthdays for everyone touched by cancer.
