Alexandria Kash is the middle child in a group of 5. She turned 10  in 2015 and has managed to make it to double digits. Since her birth she has been plaqued with physical challenges. At birth she emerged in this world with a unique form of down syndrome (Mosaic) and a major AV canal heart issue. Given a 50/50 chance of survival she made it through surgery and to the hopes of the similtude of a normal life. At the age of 3 she suffered a spinal infection (discitis) that was debilitating  and painful to watch. At the age of 7 she had her first seizure at the dinner table with her family and now three years later it is a major accomplishment if she can eat with the family. With her birthday at 10, Alex was officially diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.  What is it?
Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome is a type of epilepsy with multiple different types of seizures. LGS (Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome) is a chronic, life threatning form of severe epiliepsy, resistant to medications and is listed as a debilitating and life threatening form of epilipsy. Drop seizures are common. A drop seizure is what it says, a child can be in normal conversation and then just drop without warning causing physical harm and potential head trauma. They, Alex included, also experience GTC (General Tonic Clonic) seizures where immense pressure is placed on the heart due to seizures that strike its victim with boughts that leave them immobile and unable to breathe increasing the chance of heart related death and brain damage due to strain and a lack of oxygen.
As her parents we desire to have her not only live, but LIVE. To have the safety items to needed to protect her during travel and outings so she can still do things with minimal chance of injury, such as:  going to school, physical therapy, to play in the backyard and enjoy freedom to play in grandmas back yard....To not only live, but LIVE. To have access and availability to medications that are not only vital to survival but needed for health and vitality. With the correct medications and supplements her daily experience can be greatly increased. To not only live, but LIVE. To have the opportunity to not only survive but to learn and grow. With the right learning tools we can help her maintain an active brain by engaging in learning opportunities
We just want her to have an opportunity to not only survive, but to make her own memories and reach her own mountain  tops. To LIVE.
Alex's situation has left us as a one income family seeing that mom has to be with her at all times. Insurance has begun to reject covering certain medications and safety items leaving us  with more out of pocket expense and on one income. We  need your help to raise money to meet these needs. As we purchase items we commit to show these  items to those who have supported us so you can not only be apart of our progress...you can see it. Thank you for your help and thank you for sharing with those you know who would also help.
