Erik Adrid was diagnosed with undifferentiated sarcoma (a rare and fast growing cancer) on July 5, 2017.  This cancer does not fit into any of the normal categories, but what we do know is that this cancer has affected over 70% of Erik’s femur and the soft tissue and muscles in his right leg, his pelvis, and also his lungs.  Over the past two years, Erik has undergone multiple rounds of radiation, various types of chemotherapy, surgery to remove the original tumor, and even participated in a clinical trial.  Throughout this time, Erik has held on to the hope to return to his work as a longshoreman (Local 13); however, in January of this year, they were given the news that the latest chemotherapy medicine wasn’t working.  With this knowledge and an in-depth conversation with oncologists, they have decided to focus on making memories and enjoying the time he has left.  

As many of you know Erik and Ronniee-Marie are extremely private people, but as close family friends we are asking for your help on their behalf.  Ronniee-Marie has taken a leave from work as an LAUSD teacher in order to care for her husband and children, Luke and Madison.  She has exhausted her paid sick days and currently faces a leave without pay.  The funds will go toward their daily living expenses, any unexpected medical bills that may arise, as well as provide some financial stability and normalcy in the months to come.

Our goal is to help alleviate the financial stress for this amazingly loving family as they focus on spending the best days they have left with Erik.  Thank you for your prayers and support!
