Hi, my name is Gabriel Junior Sipapate. I am an international rugby player for the Zimbabwe Sables, and I am currently in Poland recovering from a serious injury I suffered during a derby match while playing for RC Arka Gdynia against Lechia Gdańsk in September 2024.

It was only the second match of the season, and we were playing at our home field. Just minutes into the second half, Lechia Gdańsk broke through our first defensive line. I stepped up from the second line to make a tackle — something I have done countless times in my career. I connected with my right shoulder, but instantly felt an electric shock surge throughout my entire body. I remember the team physician and medic asking me if I could move, and the coach calling over the radio asking whether I should be substituted. I tried to gather myself, but I could not feel my arm from the shoulder down, and a severe migraine started immediately. I agreed to leave the field.

After multiple scans and medical examinations, doctors diagnosed injuries to my brachial plexus, nerve roots, and vertebral discs. I have already undergone surgical evaluation, and the doctors are hopeful that with three more surgeries and intensive physiotherapy, I will regain full use of my arm and continue my rugby career.

I am raising funds to help cover the cost of these critical surgeries and rehabilitation so that I can recover in time to join the Zimbabwe Sables World Cup preparation camp. Before my injury, I was only five matches away from representing my country in the African Cup. The Sables made history by qualifying for the Rugby World Cup, and it has always been my dream to be part of that journey. With your support, I hope to return to the field and represent Zimbabwe again.

All treatment will take place in Poland. The estimated total cost is over 25,000£ including approximately 8,200£ for shoulder surgery, 10,000£ for nerve decompression surgery, and the remaining amount for daily physiotherapy, rehabilitation, and medication.
