We are the Academic Decathlon team from Rufus King IB High School. We a fairly successful team, currently in ninth place in the state of Wisconsin. We have been in the top 20 teams in the state for the past several years, coming in 6th place just 2 years ago. Just a few days ago at our Regionals, we came in fifth place, with three students winning awards in very difficult categories. Lucy placed 7th overall, earning 2nd place in math and 3rd place in literature in the Honors category. Josue placed 2nd in music in the Honors Category. Ian earned five ribbons in the Varsity category.
Funds are needed to purchase necessary curriculum, enter competitions at the local, regional, and state levels, as well as transportation to and from these events. In the past, the school has paid these expenses for us. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, the school is no longer able to assist us with funding, which would quickly put an end to our successes at each level. We just made it to the State Tournament, but without additional funding, we may not be able to attend and vie for a bid to either online Nationals or the National Tournament.
