Rufus continuing care

If you know Dave and Nicole, you probably know their beloved dog Rufus. The three of them recently moved to The Dalles, Oregon so that Nicole could accept a job and they could live quietly in the country after a few years of dreams come true, along some with some grave (human) medical difficulties back in Portland.
A week after moving, Rufus began to get sick. The house they moved into had been abandoned for a number of years and, unbeknownst to the landlord, the maintenance people had spread rat poison around the property. No one knew that Rufus had eaten the poison until he had already begun hemmoraging into his chest cavity and lungs. Rodenticide kills pests by performing as an anticoagulant, meaning the animal's blood loses the ability to clot. Rufus was brought to Dove Lewis animal hospital because he was very lethargic and not responding to any of his favorite things. After a series of tests the vet determined that he had acute rodenticide poisoning. The emergency treatment included multiple rounds of vitamin K infusions, multiple platelet transfusions, and multiple blood transfusions. After two days of treatment, he has been released and is back home. His blood is successfully clotting, but there is still fluid in his lungs. The nature of this particular poison is that it can continue to work for weeks. Rufus is stable, but not breathing well and he is looking at a lot of future vet appointments which will include more ultrasounds, blood draws, and medications to treat him and monitor his progress.
Dave, Nicole, and Rufus have received heaps of emotional support from their community, as well as some financial help from Rufus' grandparents. However the cost of the time at Dove Lewis exceeded $4,000.00 and the upcoming treatment will be extremely expensive as well. Because none of these costs can be cut, and because the recent move was also quite expensive, they need help.
Any contribution to Rufus' ongoing treatment and medical debt will go an enormous way in easing the blow of this for them. Thank you endlessly for taking the time to read this. Dave and Nicole are so grateful for their loving and compassionate community.
P.s. The Portland Tribune is going to run a story on Rufus' life being saved by Dove Lewis because he is a charming angel, extremely photogenic, and they just happened to be there. It'll be posted here as soon as it's published!
