Our dear friend, Rudy Gomez, from Fresno Ca. and now resides in the East Bay area of Northern Ca. was on vacation in New York, just having a good time, visiting a friend who lived there. He also wanted to take videos of the great scenery of the big apple through the eyes of his new drone. As long as I’ve known him, this was only his second vacation he’s gone on in the last 15 years. He is extremely dedicated to his job and his 2 daughters. While on vacation, he suffered a tear in his artery that landed him at Jack D. Weiler Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Emergency Room in the Bronx. Three days later, he had and urgent surgery to repair the artery. The surgery was very evasive, and they had to bring his temperature really low and even needed to cut off the oxygen to his brain for a period of time. After his surgery, he was put in an induced coma due to the swelling of most of his organs. After a few days, they removed the medication to keep him asleep and attempted to wake him up. After some assessment, they realized that he had 2 major strokes and still remains asleep. While trying to move the breathing tube from his mouth to his trachea they discovered the he had a defective trachea from birth. They successfully repaired his trachea but Rudy still remains asleep. Also at this time they discovered he experienced 7 more strokes. It’s been a month now that Rudy has been in this hospital, and his daughters and his mom have been by his side. Unfortunately, they have been staying at a nearby hotel and paying for meals, and a lot expenses are piling up. It’s not easy to ask for help, but we want to support Rudy at this time when he can't support himself. Please help us ease our friend’s financial burden so he can focus on recovery. Rudy is always willing to help anyone in need, now we finally have a chance to return the favor.
