Rudram Das (IMR Racing) Baja 1000 Ironman
Donation protected
A few years ago, if someone had told me I would be the First Indian to attempt a solo ride at the Baja1000, I wouldn’t have believed them. And yet here I am today, making my wildest dream a reality.
My name is Rudram Das, and I will be riding the Baja 1000 Ironman class this November. It's one of the oldest, most demanding off-road races that challenge the rider mentally and physically. As a solo rider, I will cover the 1000-mile in the desert with terrain going across dry river beds, mountain passes, silt beds, sand beds and everything else the desert throws on the course. All of this within 36 hours, riding through the day and into the night.
I am an endurance athlete and have been racing in Triathlons for eight years, completing multiple Ironmans. My love for off-road racing began 14 years ago, and in 2021, I was part of Team IMR (Indian Motorcycle Riders), which completed the Baja 1000. I am combining the endurance from my triathlon background and banking on my off-road skills over the years to compete and complete the Baja Ironman.
Baja1000 has 400 odd starters each year, and only 60% complete the ride; the Baja Ironman class will have 12-15 riders from around the world, and I will be representing India; this will be the first for an Indian rider to attempt to compete in the Baja1000 Ironman Class.
But as I mentally and physically prepare for the race, another challenge remains…
The costs of travel, motorcycles, parts, support crew and pre-running the course. And I cannot do this without your support. My team and I humbly ask for your support as we look to raise 25,000$ to help cover part of the costs.
This year, in addition to representing IMR again, I will also represent my club, Delval Trail Riders.
IMR is a group based out in Dallas, Texas (and offshoots all over the USA), who have, in the past few years, spread the joy of off-roading to the South East Asian community, be it in 2 wheels or 4 wheels. Delval Trail Riders were started in the trails of North East US, and in a few short years, has morphed into a group of 2000+ riders, who hands down have the most diverse group of riders. The goal of both these clubs is similar, spread the joy of off-road racing.
I am a living example of what happens when you finally challenge that inner voice that tells you; you can’t do something. Please help make my dream a reality and inspire others to do the same.
I will be honored to share 10% of the proceeds with the DelVal Organized event “Toys for Kids!” bringing smiles and happiness to the faces of young kids.
