Ruby is a one year old Newfoundland who has been with my husband and I since she was 10 weeks old. She is the best dog we could have ever hoped for! We had been noticing as she was growing bigger and older that she was having some trouble with her back legs, specifically getting herself up after sitting being especially difficult. We took her to the vet who immediately noticed her swaying gait and the way she "bunny hops" when she walks. Unfortunately, we learned that Ruby is suffering from bad ACL tears in both of her hind knees.  With the help of her supports, friends and family Ruby was able to obtain X-Rays which revealed that it is in fact her knees that are causing her so much pain. She has what is called Anterior Cruciate Ligament Damage. As saddened as we are for Ruby, we realized that it is a blessing she wound up with us - we love her so much and want to make her life as comfortable and pain free as possible.  I truly believe my background in working with people with disabilities as well as my husband’s compassion for animals had led her right to us. Ruby’s vet has recommended Tibial Tuberosity Advancement
Surgical Treatment of the Ruptured Cranial Cruciate Ligament (TTA). We are asking for any support from our friends and family to help contribute to Ruby’s future surgery. Some people may say “it is just a dog” but to us she is our baby. She is very young and if we are able to raise enough money to help her we can hopefully give her a long, pain free life. We are so thankful to our friends and family for the support and any amount would be greatly appreciated.
