Ms. Ruby McClain is a faithful and beloved member of her church family at CrossPoint Church of Christ in Grand Prairie, Texas. A retired State of Texas Certified Childcare Provider and Foster Parent, she has spent her life caring for others with compassion, kindness, and unwavering faith. Although Ms. Ruby was born legally blind, she has always embraced life with joy and determination, relying on the limited vision in her left eye. If you've ever met her, you've likely been greeted with one of her signature hugs—a simple but powerful expression of God's love and the ministry she shares with everyone she meets.

On the morning of June 15, 2026, Ms. Ruby suffered her second stroke while at home. She was found disoriented near her apartment mailbox by caring neighbors, whose quick response, along with her family's, helped get her safely to Medical City Arlington, where she was admitted to the ICU and began stroke treatment. She made encouraging progress during her first few days. However, after being transferred to a more independent hospital floor, she experienced a fall that injured her right side and strained her left shoulder. As if that weren't enough, a severe gout flare-up made her recovery even more difficult. Despite these setbacks, Ms. Ruby has remained determined. She is now receiving care at her preferred inpatient rehabilitation center, where she is slowly regaining strength and making progress one day at a time.

Your support will help provide for Ms. Ruby's rehabilitation needs during her inpatient stay and as she continues outpatient therapy at home. She also needs to replace her Apple iPad, which was damaged during her stroke. Because of her vision impairment, her iPad is much more than a device—it's her primary way to communicate with loved ones, stay connected to her community, access important resources, and maintain her independence. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover a refurbished Apple iPad Pro 13. She recently received her new power chair and needs a reliable safety ramp. She has a makeshift one that is unstable and was made with old and used wood that only lasted through this past winter.

Every gift, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Ms. Ruby continue her recovery and regain the tools she depends on each day. Any funds received beyond the cost of the iPad will be used for additional rehabilitation needs and essential supplies for her transition home. Most of all, we ask for your prayers. My mother and her are also good friends. Ms. Ruby instantly became an important part of my life in 2007 when we met shortly after I started dating one of her children. I am no longer dating her son.
