Life Update – From the Van to a Home & a Growing Family
Hey everyone
I just wanted to take a moment to share a little update about everything that’s been going on in our lives recently.
Back in February, we made a tough but necessary decision. We were spending every single check on a hotel room—$600 a week—for a place that didn’t really accommodate us, and we were barely ever in it. I was constantly working just to stay afloat, and even then, it felt like we were drowning. So we made the choice to move into our van to save money and try to get ahead. And for a while, it actually worked.
But with three dogs—my Rottie and two pocket bullies—it wasn’t easy. They needed more space, more comfort, and honestly, so did we. We were doing the best we could, but life on the road comes with its own struggles. Especially when it comes to taking care of the dogs the way they deserve. My two bullies aren’t fixed, and unfortunately, with everything going on, we just haven’t had the means.
One day, while I was grabbing a quick shower at the gym and my partner was working, I had to tie up the dogs on opposite ends of the van. But Rocco, being the strong boy he is, broke his leash—and nature took its course. Fast forward to now… and our sweet Ruby is showing signs of pregnancy.
I know, I know—definitely not ideal timing, and I’ve been beating myself up over it. But I took her to the vet yesterday, and thankfully, everything is looking okay. She’s healthy, and we’re going to do everything we can to make sure her pregnancy is safe and comfortable.
To add to the chaos, our van finally gave out on us completely. I kept pouring money into repairs, but nothing worked. It was a losing battle. That pushed us to finally find a real place to live—and I’m so happy to say that we did. Just last week, we moved into a home. A real home. After months of struggle, sacrifice, and uncertainty, we finally have a roof over our heads again—and not just a roof, but one where our dogs can stretch out and be dogs.
But as you can imagine, with the move, the vet bills, and the money lost on the van, things are incredibly tight right now. So, I’ve set this up for anyone who would like to help support us during this huge transition.
We’re no longer in the van. We’re safe, together, and finally settling into a new beginning. That alone is a blessing. But if you feel called to help, whether through donations or just sharing our story, it would mean the world to us.
Thank you all for the love and support. We’ve been through it—but we’re still standing.
Much love,
Audrey
