We are a rescue organization that helps the neediest animals in shelters. Our mission statement reflects our belief that all lives should never be forgotten and that all lives matter. We rescue those animals that are continuously overlooked by others and those that need medical help. We love the animals in our care and have been blessed with wonderful volunteers, adopters and supporters.
Little Ruby was pregnant at the shelter and her three babies, Mona, Lisa and Leonardo were born in a wonderful foster home. Foster Mom Chris gave them all the best of care, and when they were old enough, they came to us.
Ruby went to her forever home quickly and her son Leonardo soon afterward. Mona and Lisa were still with us, waiting for their forever home, when they were struck with parvo. Parvo is a killer of puppies; it is deadly and hits with a vicious blow. Our girls have been in the hospital since 10/26 on intravenous fluids and meds, and receiving constant loving care from the dedicated staff at Nassau Suffolk Animal Hospital. Lisa was seriously ill, could hardly hold her head up and had bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Mona was in bad shape too, but a bit better than Lisa.
It has been a nightmare to all of us hoping and praying they would be able to be saved, that their little bodies were strong enough to fight off this vicious killer. Tonight we got word that they started to eat!! Holding down some food is a tremendous sign of improvement, and we are thrilled. Their prognosis is better now and we are so relieved.
Our babies have a long road ahead, but it looks like they are progressing in the right direction. We will do whatever it takes to continue their road to recovery so they may, like their brother Leonardo and Mom Ruby, find a wonderful forever family and enjoy many happy years with them.
Their bills are in the area of $8,000, and any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. In order to meet our fundraising goal, it will truly take a village. Any amount you can contribute will make a difference. Together we can ensure these puppies regain their health and find their loving forever home.
Sincerely,
The Forgotten Friends Family
