On Wednesday, November 4th, 2020, we lost our beloved and compassionate Ruby Hamilton. A mother of 2, a dedicated activist, a gentle kind friend, and neighbor who has lived in Reston for over forty years. She was committed to the diversity and inclusion of Reston minorities and participated in many activities including Reston Black Focus.
Ruby was a dependable activist who served as a longtime officer and member of the Reston/Dulles National Council of Negro Women (NCNW).
She served as the treasurer for many years and kept the organization thriving. In addition, she was the organizer of NCNW's annual Toys for Tots collection. She recently served on the By laws committee for NCNW and worked diligently on updating the bi laws following the guides of the national office of NCNW, and helped as a volunteer at the Clothes Closet and church activities.
These are just a few of her selfless contributions, but now we are asking you for donations to help cover the cost of her final arrangements to allow our beloved Ruby and to Rest In Peace, and to assist the family she has left behind. Thank you all who can contribute.
Here's a link to the live stream on Monday, 11/16/2020. The viewing will begin at 1:00pm and the service will begin at 2:00pm.
