Rubi's Sri Lanka Nursing Placement

Hi, my name is Rubi, I'm 19 and currently in my 2nd Year of Child Nursing, training at the University of Winchester. In June 2025 I am flying to Sri Lanka to complete a 4 week Self-Elective Nursing Placement with The Mighty Roar. During my time spent here I will be working alongside nurses and other healthcare professionals within the local government hopsitals of Sri Lanka, gaining skills and expertise that differentiate from our NHS. I will be assisting to care for patients with diseases and conditions that are unique to this developing country and gaining a real insight first-hand into how a variety of different cultures, beliefs, and values can impact medicine in Sri Lanka. The experince this placement can offer to my nursing training is incredible and truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

In order to achieve this I have created a GoFundMe page so that friends, family, and others can consider supporting me on what will be an unforgettable trip. This working placement is not in anyway paid, funded, or sponsored by a 3rd party such as my University so any donations, no matter how big or small, will be hugely appreciated!
