On June 23, 2022, tragedy struck my family. My father’s home has burned down. My son and nephew were living there and escaped safely. Sadly, their sweet dog, Angel,
did not.
My parents bought this home when I was an infant (over 40 years ago). They were the
first owners of the house. This house is more than just a home to our family. Not only
was this the house my sisters and I grew up in, but our children did as well. We shared
many Easter dinners with the Chinaware and hosted back yard parties for the kids. “Papa’s house” is our family’s only true home. My mother passed away in this home
with our family beside her.
My father passed away in November of 2020. He was a great man. Not born in the U.S.,
he appreciated all that America could offer. He completed medical school to become a
pathologist and achieved multiple certifications thereafter. He also retired as a
Lieutenant Colonel for the U.S. Army. He sacrificed so much for our family so we can
live the American dream. And it was his wish to keep the home in the family so that
anyone who needs a place to stay would always have a home.
We lost everything in this fire. There is no replacing our loss, but we can try to rebuild
and carry on his legacy. The house structure and foundation are still good. As the house
was fully paid for, my father did not have insurance. We began the demolition and
deconstruction using our own finances. We are hoping to receive financial assistance to
recoup some of that cost and if possible, cover some of the homebuilding expenses.
Any help will be appreciated.
Donated items are also appreciated since my son and nephew lost all their personal
belongings in the fire.
