Rubinson Family Fundraiser
Donation protected
Jamey Harvey has organized this on behalf of Alex and Natasha Rubinson.
In June of 2022, Adam was diagnosed with brain cancer - specifically, glioblastoma - and quickly underwent brain surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. He and his wife Susan were hopeful that he would live long enough to see his son Alex graduate from college and his daughter Natasha graduate from high school. They even dared to dream that he would be able to retire with Susan one day. As Adam had created Deloitte’s District of Columbia State & Local Practice, many hoped that he would be able to continue his joy and success in the firm. Unfortunately, in April of 2023, he learned that the cancer had metastasized to his spine, and the doctors could only provide palliative care to him. Unfortunately, this not only meant that his children would no longer have the love and guidance of their father, but they would also lose the ability to pay for their college educations.
Adam loves his family, and nothing makes him happier than their yearly trip to Cape May or their weekly Friday night dinners with his mother. He is so proud of his children and their accomplishments (Alex’s sports website and football podcast or Natasha’s artistic ability and enthusiasm for playing volleyball and lacrosse) and “kvells” about what wonderful people they are developing into. He was looking forward to seeing the great things they would accomplish as they got older. He is also so proud of Susan, starting her own renowned, non-profit organization, obtaining government funding, and providing much-needed services to states looking to reform public health and public safety.
Adam also loves his work. He had relatively recently been named a PPMD at Deloitte and was excited to strategize new ways to help the District of Columbia and the State of Maryland in their quests for revolutionary work. Adam was excited about his relationship with the new Maryland governor and what they could accomplish together. In addition to his paying job, Adam tirelessly volunteered on many Boards, lending his time and intellect to organizations such as the Capital Jewish Museum, the American Jewish Committee, the DC Chamber of Commerce, and various DEI groups – all the time with tikkum olam (repairing and improving the world) driving him.
When somebody becomes critically ill, so young, people often speak in superlatives about the person. They were the best friend, the smartest person, the kindest soul . . . whether accurate or not. With Adam, superlatives are the only way to correctly describe him. He is a very unique individual - smart, funny, thoughtful, loyal – an extraordinary friend, father, husband, brother, and son. Ask anyone who knows Adam, and they will only use superlatives when referring to him.
This Go Fund Me account will be used to help pay for Alex and Natasha’s college tuitions, since Adam was the breadwinner, and Susan’s non-profit salary is paltry. Please give what you can and spread the word.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
