Ruben’s Stronger Than Covid

Being valuable and asking for assistance is hard for most people, and it is especially hard for Ruben Diaz, who prides himself on providing for his family. Ruben has had many chapters in life, and most of us have walked through them with him.

As his baby sister, I can genuinely say the last six years have been the BEST chapter to watch in his journey. He gave his life to Christ, joined House of Faith Bay Area Church, married Jessica, and became a legitimate bada$$ hardworking family-man. He was so proud when he moved his family into their 1st house together. I couldn’t be prouder of you, Brother! I’m honored to be an advocate for his health and assist in maintaining his sanity throughout this time.

How did we get here?
Ruben tested positive for COVID on January 3rd. He followed the CDC guideline and remained isolated in home-quarantine for nine days with minimal relief to his various symptoms. Struggling to breathe, Ruben went to the Emergency Room on his daughter’s birthday (precious Isabella), January 12th. At that time, his body spiked a fever of 105, and his lungs were in extremely bad shape. The hospital staff ran a few tests, and he was immediately admitted.

Unfortunately, we would have never thought we would be where we are today. Ruben is STILL in the hospital and not yet cleared/strong enough to discharge. He is alone, missing his family and extended church family, allowed no visitors due to the current County guideline and spends most of his day thinking, worried and waiting...

A special thank you to his Pastors and Church for taking the prayer group to the hospital parking lot earlier this week.

HE IS CONSCIOUS and ALERT, but it is challenging to breathe. He has completed all of his IV COVID medication but is tied to his oxygen tank. He still has a long road ahead to full recovery. When he is discharged from the hospital, he will go home with oxygen.

We are hopeful that with the power of faith and many prayers, Ruben will overcome this speed bump. Being out of commission and unable to work since January 3rd, he had to cash out on all accrued sick time and PTO. In addition to health concerns now comes unwanted financial burdens and stresses. Ruben and his family do not need the heartache of fiances at this time, and his mind, body and soul need to relax and be worry-free to heal correctly.

We are humbly and graciously asking for anything from prayers to any monetary value to alleviate the burden and allow him to focus all energy and efforts on his strength. The funds will be used towards rent, house expenses, recurring bills, and everyday necessities while he continues to be off work, hospitalized, and then adjusting at home.

Jessica, Ruben and their children appreciate the calls and texts. They are all read and reviewed with love; it is impossible to reply to everyone. Please know your message(s) are read and appreciated. I will update this post every few days so please check back for his current status.

Ruben, we love you, and I can’t wait to hug you, Brother! ❤️
