Ruben, Son, Brother, Friend, and so much more, passed away unexpectedly into the loving hands of God. With a bright future ahead, attending Cal Poly SLO as a second-year engineering student and beginning his journey as a Marine OCS candidate, the best of his life was still to come. While nobody should have to experience the pain of losing someone so precious and young, it is in these times that compassion and love gets us through these hardships. Ruben, was there for us all at one point to lend a hand with the most heartwarming smile and stress-relieving humor. While time does not allow us to go back to relive cherished memories or offer final goodbyes, the impact of his life will ripple through the hearts of us all, eternally. The thoughts we carry and which make a home in our hearts, continue to remind us of the gifts life bestows, no matter how short. As we work through this time of mourning and pain, may we pray for the soul of Ruben as he ascends to protect and watch over us all. Furthermore, let us recollect upon every second we spent beside Ruben Diaz and celebrate the good times spent embraced by his love.
