Rubens Fight Against Stage 4 Cancer

Dear friends,

My name is Patricia and I am raising funds to help support my brother, Rubens Calderon with his fight against stage 4 cancer.

Rubens, is 67 year old. He was diagnosed with Prostate cancer in 2017. He underwent surgery in June of 2017 to remove his prostate with the hopes to limit the cancer from spreading. Unfortunately, in 2020, he was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 bone cancer, a result of metastasized prostate cancer.

Rubens started chemotherapy and radiation treatments as a way to slow down the cancer immediately after his bone cancer diagnosis. But as of 3 weeks ago, Rubens was met with another medical crisis suffering from a stroke. He was admitted to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Anaheim, where it was later revealed that his stroke was caused by a brain tumor.

Doctors have advised an urgent surgery is needed to give my brother a fighting chance. Doctors are confident that with the surgery, he has an 80% chance of survival but only 4-6 weeks left of life if the surgery isn't performed.

Like any cancer diagnosis, the cost of medical bills, meals and other expenses can be a burden, especially when working is no longer a sustainable option. Since the brain tumor diagnosis, Rubens has not been able to work and has since fell short on his insurance premiums which means insurance won’t cover this life saving surgery.

If you are able to, donations would be greatly appreciated to help cover medical expenses to allow Rubens to focus on the only thing that matters, which is to continue fighting for as long as God will allow it.

Me llamo Patricia y estoy recaudando fondos para apoyar a mi hermano, Rubens Calderón, en su lucha contra el cáncer en etapa 4.

Rubens tiene 67 años. Le diagnosticaron cáncer de próstata en 2017. En junio de 2017, se sometió a una cirugía para extirparle la próstata con la esperanza de limitar su propagación. Desafortunadamente, en 2020, le diagnosticaron cáncer de huesos terminal en etapa 4, resultado de un cáncer de próstata con metástasis.

Rubens comenzó quimioterapia y radioterapia para frenar el cáncer inmediatamente después de su diagnóstico. Sin embargo, hace tres semanas, sufrió otra crisis médica debido a un derrame cerebral. Ingresó en el Hospital Kaiser Permanente de Anaheim, donde posteriormente se reveló que su derrame cerebral fue causado por un tumor cerebral.

Los médicos han recomendado una cirugía urgente para que mi hermano tenga una oportunidad de luchar. Los médicos confían en que con la cirugía, tiene un 80% de posibilidades de sobrevivir, pero solo le quedan de 4 a 6 semanas de vida si no se realiza.

Como con cualquier diagnóstico de cáncer, el costo de las facturas médicas, las comidas y otros gastos puede ser una carga, especialmente cuando trabajar ya no es una opción sostenible. Desde que le diagnosticaron un tumor cerebral, Rubens no ha podido trabajar y desde entonces no ha podido pagar sus primas de seguro, lo que significa que el seguro no cubrirá esta cirugía que pueda salvar su vida.
