Hello, this is the family of Ruben Vargas. We are fundraising to help the family pay for funeral and medical expenses. Ruben, unfortunately, passed away on January 4th, at 2:48 pm. At the beginning of December Ruben tested positive for Covid-19. It wasn't until the early morning of December 15th that an ambulance was called for struggling with breathing. As the holidays approached he jumped back and forth with positive and negative outcomes with different treatments. It wasn't until the Monday before he passed that a tear was found in his lung and a ventilator was to be set in place. That night all seemed well until around 6 a.m. where we received a phone call from the hospital advising us to rush up there. Over that night his vitals dropped or skyrocketed and the doctors could not get it under control. A split decision was made to put a tube in his chest to alleviate the pressure and help bring his vitals back to normal. The chest tube was successful. While doctors were taking tests and making sure the chest tube was continuing to work they noticed that his kidneys were failing at an exponential rate and dialysis was needed stat. It wasn't even 20 minutes after finding out the news about dialysis that the doctors had changed their diagnosis and informed us with the heartbreaking news that dialysis was no longer an option. The doctors with full-hearted disclosure told us that he would not make It through the day and that we should start saying our good bye's. We told him how much we loved him, cared, and no longer wanted him to suffer. We told him how much of an impact he had on so many people's lives and never for a second had to think before being there for others in times of need. The Lord took a father, spouse, brother, friend, and loved one from us that day, but instead of being angry at the dear lord, we should be thanking him for putting such a beautiful soul in this world for us all to make unforgettable experiences with. We love you with all our heart Ruben.
