Ruben Padilla Memorial Fund

Dear Friends & Family,

It is with a heavy & broken heart that I share with you the passing of the Love of My Life, Ruben Duran Padilla (2/4/54-8/7/21).

As you may remember, Ruben was recently added onto the list for a Liver Transplant.

We are deeply devastated, it happened so sudden and so quickly.

Ruben was born and raised in Indio, California. He was a great musician in the Coachella Valley, and played in many bands, including Ben E. King, Alvin Taylor, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, and many others. Ruben had his own record shop from the 70’s to the early 80’s, and would serve and become friends with people such as Eden Ahbez and Billy Steinberg. He grew up with seven amazing brothers who were wonderfully brought up by their loving and beautiful mother that they dearly loved.

As you may know Ruben, was a huge and loyal Beatles fan, and was an expert in Beatles Memorabilia, and traveled across the country to appraise collections and to talk about the history of rare and sought after Beatles items.

In the Early 80’s, Ruben joined the Law Enforcement community, and became part of the Riverside County Sherriff’s Department as a Deputy Marshall. In the Early 90’s, he joined Coachella Police Department and retired as Detective in 1999. During his career in Law Enforcement, he was involved with the DARE initiative, in charge of the Police Explorers program, and in tribute to a tragic passing of his niece, hosted a Christmas Toy Drive.

In the new millennium, Ruben became program director for the Boys & Girls Club in both Indio, and Logan Heights in San Diego. Since then, Ruben has gone into Private Security, working for Malcolm Barbour, the founder of the Television Show, COPS; as well as George Benson, Wynonna Judd, Jewel, Paulina Rubio and the list goes on. Afterwards, Ruben found himself becoming Director of Security for companies such as PGA West in La Quinta, John F Kennedy Memorial in Indio and retired as Security Director of Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, California.

He was the best every day at being a husband, friend, father, boss, uncle, brother, son and human being.

Andy and I are missing you so much.
