RUBEN LAMBRECHTS FOUNDATION : RAISING FUNDS FOR THE CHAYAH KALAHARI PROJECT
Following its registration with the Namibian authorities, The Ruben Lambrechts Foundation aims to champion environmental conservation, animal rights and social upliftment across Namibia.
You will all know Ruben’s love for Minki and Jerry , the amazing meerkats who are part of his family, and his passion for not just them but for all of his 4 legged family. It is with this in mind that we have launched this appeal to help him raise funds for the Kalahari Project which is dedicated to rehabilitating and rewilding Kalahari meerkats which have been threatened by the illegal pet trade and habitat loss.
Since 2014 CHAYAH Kalahari Project NPC has returned 4000 meerkats to the wild with a 90% success rate, safeguarding the ecological integrity of the Kalahari desert ecosystem
They have recently been forced to relocate with 260 meerkats in their care and whilst their new potential base has great opportunities for things such as volunteer programmes and to broaden their ability to help other indigenous species and communities, they desperately need funds to allow this to happen.
They have to move this weekend and URGENTLY need to raise 100,000 SAR (£5500 UK, $5700 US) to allow them to build temporary meekat enclosures and offer these wonderful creatures the correct diet and supplements to allow them to thrive.
They have given their heart and soul to saving these animals so anything you can donate, large or small, will be used to help them from not having to shut their doors and turn their back on these animals which SO need help. I have spent time with Ruben, his family and with Minki and Jerry and will do anything to help support him with this incentive. Can you help?
Namibia is a country not supported by GoFundMe hence why my partner and I, who know Ruben well, are coordinating this appeal on his behalf from the UK. Regardless of where you are in the world, funds will be collected in UK Pounds (GoFundMe do the conversion from your home currency) via the platform, withdrawn to a dedicated UK bank account and then transferred via Lloyds Bank to the Foundations Namibian account in Windhoek where it can be put to immediate work and allow the Foundation to start to build its legacy. Transparency is ensured throughout this process.
From Ruben, Barista, Cindy and, of course all the meerkats THANK YOU for your generosity and the huge difference your support will make.
