Ruben & Kylee Guzman

My name is Grace Gooley. Kylee is my childhood best friend. When we were seniors in high school, Kylee joined me at Nixa High School and met the love of her life, Ruben Guzman. They have 2 beautiful girls, Isabella (7) and Raven (4).

While visiting family in Mississippi, they went swimming and Ruben got stung by something as he jumped into the pool. He went into anaphylactic shock, aspirated while underwater, and then went into cardiac arrest. He managed to pull himself out of the pool but then collapsed, and Kylee called 911. She did CPR while waiting for the EMT, but when Ruben got to the hospital, at least 10 minutes had passed where he didn’t get enough oxygen to his brain because of how his neck was contracting his blood vessels.

By the grace of God, Bella and Raven were asleep and did not wake up during this to see anything happening to their dad.

Ruben is in critical condition at a hospital in Mississippi. We are praying for him to open his eyes and regain significant brain activity.

Ruben, Kylee, and the girls have a long road ahead of them. A few friends have asked me how they could help financially, so I decided to set this fundraiser up for the Guzman Family.
