Hi Everyone , My cousin Ruben Davila is currently residing at Israel House Hospice in Ames IA . Dying from renal failure & cancer . Basically organ failure .
From his wife-Where to begin. It has been a whirlwind in the last week. Ruben developed a cold, had issues breathing. We opted to go to the ER (thinking it was bronchitis, meds, breathing treatment and out). His pulse ox dropped really low and ended up on a ventilator by 3am on Wednesday morning due to influenza A. He was transported to Des Moines ICU and was taken off the ventilator by noon Thursday. However due to Ruben's underlying health issues he was still being/tested and watched. With the treatment of the influenza A, it took a toll on his kidneys. Which had already taken a beating from years being a diabetic. Ruben and I have discussed/decided back in 2019 with the diagnosis of colon cancer, that we would not seek treatment. We would live our best lives and let things happen as they may without complications from treatments. This decision also went for any other health issues that would arise. With the toll that the treatments did over those 3 days for influenza A, he is in renal failure. So that now means that we are currently residing in an amazing Hospice location keeping him comfortable. This is a lot to take in. It shocking to a point of disbelief. Speechless and helplessness will run in this mix as well. Right now what I ask from you all is to please send love and peace to this wonderful infamous life sized 5 year old that spent the majority of his life making people laugh. Please bare with me, I will do the very best I can to answer any questions. There is also a small army around me that are well informed. There has been soo much love and peace through this all. Jo Ann ( aka Joey ) his wife is staying with Ruben at the hospice house. Basically they have no income st this time . Zilch. As you know - when someone you love is actively dying you don’t have time to worry about money and bills. It is my hope & prayer together his tribe and their loved ones can help support Joey with financial abundance through this devastatingly tumultuous- absolutely brutal time in their lives. Love & blessings to all and if you can’t donate prayers & healing are appreciated. TIA
