Ruben Cano Wilms Tumor Treatment

Ruben Cano just celebrated his 5th birthday before receiving the news that he had a tumor in his kidney. He was a healthy and happy kid and getting ready to start his soccer season before life took a 180 turn. His mom Karina noticed that he looked bloated and thought maybe he was just constipated and took him into their pediatrician. The pediatrician was concerned and checked his hemoglobin which came back low and sent them for further testing. His blood cell counts showed cancer and a tumor was found in his kidneys and he was rushed back to emergency surgery and recovered in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

He is now stable and recovering in the post-surgical floor at a pediatric hospital. His mom is a self employed real estate agent and has been staying with him in the hospital. Their family welcomed a baby brother 2 months ago and they two 2 older sisters at home as well.

It has been difficult for their family to adjust to being separated, as parents are taking turns being at the hospital.

The family is currently waiting to hear if they caught the cancer early or if has metastasized to lymph nodes.

This is understandably a very stressful time for the Cano family and these funds will help as the Cano family navigates this new diagnosis and will allow them to focus on healing.
