On July 30th, 2020 will be a day never forgotten- our family is mourning the loss of our loving father- Ruben Bernardo, who was a dear brother and friend to many. Three weeks ago he was admitted into the hospital, and soon after tested positive for the the coronavirus. Since then fought a long battle, but the coronavirus was too strong for him to conquer. He passed away peacefully with many of our family and friends praying over him from all over the world.
Our Dad was our last rock to our family, since our Mom and his best friend passed away in 2014. While in the Philippines, my Dad always had a vision to come to the United States with our Mom, children and family with him. My parents resilience to make this happen, is an important piece of our parents story. Our parents, were like two peas in a pod, never separated, and their strength together is what made them our foundation. Our Dad was a quiet man, but had a way to make everyone laugh, and his presence in a room never went unnoticed. My parents were very social, part of multiple ministries back in Cleveland, OH and always devoted to God. One thing that stands out is had so much unconditional love, if you needed help with anything.. he was there and never asked for anything. All the resilience, strength, and love poured over to their children- He was as amazing dad to me, my brother Bernard, and two sisters Joyce and Catherine. We could not be more grateful to him, and overall what our parents have instilled in us.
I know the COVID pandemic has changed the world in a way that many cannot understand. But this outbreak has hit home for us in multiple ways. We lost my Dad's oldest brother in March due to Covid, and two other extended family members were also tested positive for Covid, and just recently Covid unfortunately took our last Rock, our Dad, brother, and friend to many away from us.
Any help towards both medical and funeral services would help our family a great deal. I pray that we all stay healthy and safe during these times. We THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts, and one day will all be reunited again.
