I never imagined I would be writing this from a tent in Gaza, where every sunrise brings fear, hunger, and uncertainty. Yet even here, surrounded by destruction, I refuse to give up on my dream. My name is Amro Khalaf. I am 18 years old, and I come from a place scarred by conflict, where life is a daily struggle to survive.

When the war destroyed our home, everything I knew vanished. The walls that held my childhood, my books, and my dreams were reduced to rubble. My family and I fled with nothing but the clothes we wore, running through dust and explosions, unsure if we would ever be safe again. Since then, we have been displaced nine times, moving from one shelter to another, and now living in a fragile tent that floods when it rains and burns under the summer sun.

For months, we survived on one meal a day, often feeling dizzy, weak, and battling constant headaches from hunger. Clean water is so scarce that I walk for hours just to collect a few liters for my family. Days pass without electricity, so I study by the faint glow of a flashlight while explosions shake the ground. Education has become the only bridge from this tent to a safe and meaningful life.

Even after losing everything, I refused to let my dreams be destroyed. I became the first student in the world to take International A-Level exams remotely from a war zone, as no exam centers were available in Gaza. Despite these impossible conditions, I achieved top grades—proof that determination can survive even in the darkest moments.

My dream is to become a Civil Engineer, not only to build a life for myself but to help rebuild communities shattered by war. I want to design homes, schools, and shelters that give families the safety and stability they deserve.

I have received undergraduate offers to study in the UK—a chance to leave the rubble behind and finally pursue the future I have been fighting for. But without financial support, this opportunity will slip away. Every day matters—your support can help me secure my place at university and take the first step toward this future.

This campaign will fund my tuition, accommodation, travel, and living expenses so I can focus on learning, not merely surviving. It is the bridge that will take me from a tent in Gaza to a classroom in the UK, where I can turn determination into action.

I am not asking for charity—I am asking for a chance to turn this rubble into hope, to study, to build, and to give back. Even a small contribution—or simply sharing my story—brings me one step closer to making this dream a reality.

This is what was left of my home after the bombing. From this rubble, I am fighting to build a future through education.

This fundraiser is being hosted through Marcela Nacif’s account, on behalf of Brave Future, as Amro Khalaf is unable to create his own fundraising account from Gaza. This is an independent initiative, and all funds raised will be transferred directly to Amro to support his university studies.
