Jabari Griffin

On 10/25/2022 at 6:45 a.m. just two days before our son Jabari Griffin’s 16th birthday he was hit by a reckless driver in front of his highschool.

Jabari was hit and dragged at a speed so forceful he sustained multiple neck fractures, severe spinal injuries, bleeding on his brain, collapsed lungs, ruptured esophagus, along with several other injuries.

Jabari was transported from Morton high school, to the university of Chicago’s ICU trauma unit.

Since being at the University of Chicago Jabari has underwent multiple surgeries, and is expected to have more surgeries in the future.

Jabari spent his highly anticipated 16th birthday away from family and friends in the ICU suffering from infections, fevers, and paralysis, unable to move his arms and legs, and unable to speak or eat with breathing tubes down his throat, and only able to communicate with blinking his eyes and facial expressions.

We created this fund to help offset what will be a very costly recovery for our family, as we have also welcomed our 5th child, a baby boy thirteen days prior to Jabari’s accident.

Your donation will help cover cost from childcare, trips to the hospital, and other needs that goes towards Jabari’s recovery, and mental wellness, as he struggles with adapting to his condition.
