She’s Dying in a Tent — Help Her Survive Gaza

My name is Malak, and I am writing this with a heart full of sorrow as the older sister of a beautiful young woman in Gaza named Basma.

Basma is 19 years old, born with Spina Bifida, a severe birth defect that left her unable to walk or control her bladder.

As if that wasn’t enough, her kidneys are now failing.

Her body is swollen with toxins. She cries all night in pain. She is too weak to sit, and her life is slowly fading before our eyes.

Since our home was destroyed, we now live in a tent — with no clean water, no electricity, no toilet, and no access to medical care.

She doesn’t even have a mattress. She sits and sleeps directly on the bare sand, under the burning sun by day and in freezing cold by night.

We are not just battling disability — we are battling famine.

We can’t find food, and we can’t afford to provide the nourishment her fragile body needs to survive.

My entire family is terrified for her. We do everything we can, but this situation is far beyond what any family can endure alone.

That’s why I am begging the world:

Please, don’t let her die like this.
