Nick was in a car accident Saturday night. He was in surgery at Harborview for over 3 hours for a dislocated hip and fractured pelvis.

Nick works as a waiter and has no sick leave. The driver who caused the accident let his insurance lapse.

Nick cannot put any pressure on his leg for at least 6 weeks and he will be out of work for at least 8 weeks. Nick has insurance he pays for privately through Kaiser. He will face lost wages for 2 months, uncovered medical bills, but he will still need to pay his rent and car.
