RTMS Treatment

Hi, to those who don’t know me my names Jon.

As many of you know, I’ve struggled with OCD my whole life, and have been diagnosed with PURE OCD. This isn’t OCD as many of you know it, for me I struggle daily with intrusive thoughts and twitches. I have been thinking I was managing them on my own until now. As an adult I have been under the mental health team at CGL for the last 12weeks. Despite various treatments and new medication nothing has provided lasting relief. I’ve managed to get by, but it’s been a constant challenge.

I suffered a stroke, which left grey matter on my brain and worsened the OCD. Recently, my condition has deteriorated significantly. I now struggle with speech and find it difficult to understand written instructions as well as the thoughts accelerating. This has recently left me unable to work and has made it challenging to function on my own. I will be off to a rehab Centre in a month’s time which is self funded. I’m doing everything possible to help myself.

There is a new treatment called TNS, which has been strongly recommended to me by the team at CGL and psychiatric doctors, it involves sending a shock to the brain to “jump-start” the area that isn’t working properly. Unfortunately, I don’t meet the NHS criteria to qualify for this treatment, so I would have to fund it myself. It’s incredibly expensive, but after consulting with several specialists, it seems to be my only option.

Asking for help is very hard for me, and I know that times are tough for everyone. But if you’re able to support me in any way, I would be forever grateful. I just need to get better and this treatment would help me with 70% of this terrible illness and get me back to work and live some kind of “normal” life.
