Following a leading I have felt towards global missions, this April I will be embarking on a 5 month missions school and outreach trip with YWAM (Youth with a Mission).
This organisation was founded in 1960 to equip and send young people across the world to preach the gospel, serve communities and share the love of Christ.
Since connecting with and serving at the YWAM base in Paraguay on my year abroad, I have had it in my heart to dedicate time to global missions through completing the Discipleship Training School (DTS), 3 months of teaching and 3 months of outreach.
The Fire and Fragrance Extreme Places DTS, based in Kona, Hawaii, is centred on worship, intercession and reaching people groups who have not yet heard the Gospel.
There are over 1800 YWAM bases in over 180 countries! I have landed on this one due to:
- A prophetic word I received specifically about Hawaii
- A call I have felt over the last couple of years towards Brazil and the fact that this school is aiming for a 50% Brazilian intake of students! (I have been learning Portuguese with this in mind).
The school will be a time to:
* Deepen and strengthen my relationship with God
* Partake in worship and intercessory prayer for various nations and people groups
* Hone skills for the mission field, such as communication, collaboration and teamwork
* Grow in spiritual and physical disciplines
Whilst on outreach, I will have the opportunity to:
* Work on translating the Bible into new languages
* Reach groups of people that are yet to hear the Gospel
* Serve local communities practically and spiritually
* Partner with what God is doing across the earth.
I am therefore raising funds for:
* Flight costs (£1,100)
* The lecture phase (the course, teaching, accommodation, food) - £3,290
* The outreach phase (flights, accommodation, food, etc) - £3600-£4,800 (dependent on where I am sent)
* Other living costs (household items, food, insurance, medical tests) - £450
Total: £8440-£9640
