Route 333 Refugee Sponsorship Assoc

People living in Prospect Road communities have come together to bring a refugee family from Syria to safety and security in Nova Scotia - and you can help.

The Route 333 Refugee Sponsorship Association was formed by community members from the many communities along the Prospect Road; a dedicated group of people wanting to personally respond to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Syria.

Our goal is to bring a Syrian family to the Halifax area. To make this happen, we need to raise $30,000 - enough to support this family with safe housing, food, and clothing during their first year in Canada. We have set a goal of bringing a family to the Halifax area in 2017

We encourage all community groups, schools,  churches, and businesses in the Prospect area to unite in helping achieve this goal. We extend our sincere thanks to the Prospect Peninsula Resident's Association for their contribution of $3000, and the Prospect Players for the $1000 they have pledged. We are already well on our way.

Individuals can help, too! No matter where you are or how much you can donate, every little bit gets us closer to making a difference to one family. Every donation, no matter how small, is truly appreciated.

Once the money is raised, we will work in partnership with the Convention of Atlantic Baptist Churches to apply to the federal government for sponsorship of a refugee family. All donations received through this GoFundMe site will go toward the overall total, less only the 7.9% administration and processing fees charged by the site. You can be confident that your contribution will go directly to supporting a family in urgent need.

Tax receipts & offline donations

Financial contributions to the sponsorship can be made online through our GoFundMe site, or by cheque made payable to the New Life Community Church in trust to the Route 333 Refugee Sponsorship Association. You must donate by cheque in order to receive a tax receipt. Tax receipts cannot be issued for donations made via this GoFundMe site.

Cheques can be sent to:

Route 333 Refugee Sponsorship Association
1600 Prospect Bay Road
Prospect, NS  B3T 2B2

Tax receipts for donations in excess of $25 will be issued by the New Life Community Church (Canadian residents only) for individual donations received by cheque. Please make sure to include your full name and mailing address with your cheque in order to receive a tax receipt.

Volunteer

When we achieve our financial goal and prepare to welcome a new family to the Halifax area, we will need lots of folks to provide hands-on help.  These refugee families are arriving in Canada with little more than the clothes on their backs. If you would like to volunteer your time or expertise once the family arrives, please click the "contact" link below.
