My name is Mackenzie Amaya and I am 12 years old (Today!) I attend J.L. Long Middle School in Dallas Texas and am on the A Honor Roll. My reading teacher nominated me to attend the National Junior Leadership Conference in Washington D. C. this summer, but the tuition and flight is too much for my family to afford.
My family sat down and planned out ideas for fundraisers and decided to ask our local community center, Jubilee Park, to let us open a concession stand for the opening day of our flag football season this past weekend. On the the first day, we sold over $209 dollars worth of snacks, which was almost overwhelming, but it is still a far cry from the $3000 I will need. I believe that going to this conference will open new doors for my educational path and need your help in order to make that dream come true. My AVID teacher suggested I tell my story on here and I said, "why not"? I am a strong and smart girl and will do anything to make sure my future is paved in the right direction.
As William Shakespeare said, "Though she be but little, she is fierce!"
