Lucas was driving down highway 17 when a log truck pulled out in front of him causing him to rear-end the truck. The impact knocked Lucas out for a few seconds and when he came to he saw battery acid all over his windshield and it was smoking. He began trying to get out of the car when he realized his foot was stuck in a bunch of metal. He screamed for help as he watched cars drive past him, not blinking an eye. He realized he had to find a way to get himself out. He pushed his seat all the way back and began ripping the metal away from his feet. The car ignited and the windows began to blow out. Lucas pried the door open using his shoulder and landed on the ground and wiggled his way as far as he could. After getting out of the car, he could not move as his tibia had completely came out of his leg. Lucas heard a lady, Colynn Jacobs, screaming at the truck driver to move him from the car before it exploded, she would not have been able to do it herself. The truck driver pulled him to the wood line and he was taken to the hospital. While at the hospital, he was informed that he had a clean break in his collar bone, a collapsed lung, broken ribs, and a horribly fractured Tibia. Lucas and Kaitlyn, his wife, lost their new car, purchased only a few weeks prior. Alongside their car, they also lost their baby's stroller and car seat base. Lucas has to learn how to walk again on his leg and it is going to be a long process. Kaitlyn and Lucas have a 4 month old baby and currently have unreliable transportation. It would be a continuous miracle of God if they could have help purchasing the medical supplies Lucas needs to be comfortable at home. The funds will not only help with medical supplies, but also: their baby's items and fixing their broke down vehicle, and just living life. Additionally, there is going to be a delay before they can access their disability funds. Lucas and Kaitlyn know they are backed by a strong support system and would really appreciate any help sent their way.
