Hi, My name is Theresa, and I'm 62 years old. I currently live in Tucson, AZ.
In Aug, 2024 I slipped and fell in a huge puddle of water at Target. I slipped backwards, but ended up catching myself but didn't have enough traction to stop from falling forward on both knees. Needless to say the impact of the fall caused some serious injuries. HR never offered me the benefits I was entitled to, which could have ultimately helped me receive the proper care and treatment to avoid future issues. Due to months of coming into work, hours on my feet, it ended up causing permanent damage to these injuries.
I had MRIs done in Dec, 2024
The results:
Two thoracic herniated disc T6-7 T8-9 and T11 damage, a meniscus tear on my left knee, a split tear on my left ankle, and a TFCC on my left wrist.
I did attempt to work on and off until Oct., 2025, but the pain I experience throughout my 6-8 hour shifts is intolerable. I've asked to be placed in other departments to help minimize the stress to my body, but
the company continues to place me
back on a register.
Working as a cashier requires standing in one spot the entire shift along with bending, twisting, and lifting 10lbs plus. It destroys my back. The two herniated disc puts a tremendous amount of pressure on my spine, so I'm limited to what my body can tolerate. The pain is excruciating.
In 2022, I was forced to move from my apt.due to leaks coming into my place on & off for 7 years. I never received my $1,700 deposit back, which caused a major financial burden. That is when I decided I wanted to leave AZ, and then the slip & fall happened, which set me back to move.
I'm not looking for sympathy, just some support to help me get back on my feet, find some stability again, keep a roof over my head, and pay my Dr'. bills.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and your help to get me back on my feet again!
Please share
I appreciate it
