We came home from a beautiful evening motorcycle ride on Sunday, to see our new home pouring black smoke from a fire starting on the middle floor
The whole house is damaged from the extreme heat and every wall, floor and item in the house is black. The kitchen / middle floor is gone. All furnishings, electronics, clothes, our new couches, decor, mattresses, etc. The brand new white carpet is ruined.
We bought the house 2 weeks before the fire. My mother & brother also moved their belongings in that morning.
We have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 4 horses and were put in a hotel on the 3rd floor for a bit - were now in a rental house. It has been very hectic and time consuming going between school, work, the rental home and our home to take care of the animals and maintain the outside of the farm
Updated APRIL 4, 2021
They are ending our rental house contract April 25th, 2021 regardless of if the house is finished or not. They will not renew because they have already extended it due to it taking a year. Currently the house isn’t even near finished and COVID-19 has delayed the construction and ordering of appliances / materials. Currently the flooring has just been put in and lighting
Ryan and I have been paying everything out of pocket thus far because State Farm is not cutting our checks in an urgent manner. The city is also giving us a deadline to change to city water / sewer costing around $13,000. Our deductible for insurance we’ve paid is $10,000 and we’ve paid at least $10,000 out of pocket so far to get construction going on the house.
Ryan and I have been working every extra hour that we can and have sold a lot of personal belongings to contribute to the rebuild. We just want our lives to go back to normal - it has been undeniably stressful and exhausting. We never even got to officially live in our place.
The cause has been deemed as “unknown” by the investigators
This is one of the scariest experiences of my life and I NEVER imagined pulling into our driveway to see my new, dream home damaged like this. We are so grateful that animals and people are okay.
There is so much work to try to put the pieces back together. The fire department said if we waited any longer the house would have been gone
Thank you all so much, the support has been AMAZING. We are so blessed
People have been asking about alternative payments other than Go Fund Me, since they take a percentage
We have Zelle and PayPal, under my email, [email redacted] and FB donation.
I don’t expect people to donate, but please share our story. Make sure you have MULTIPLE extinguishers!
