We are the little Lawson family. On November 15th, after a very high risk and difficult pregnancy, we welcomed our two twin boys to the world at 35 weeks. Charlie, the father, spent the majority of the pregnancy trying to find a balance between work at his pastry prep job and taking care of myself, while I had more than the usual doctors appointments and emergency room visits. As a result of his exhaustive support we fell behind on rent but always made sure we paid it, through the support of state and government programs and scraping together every penny we had. After tapping out these resources our apartment complex began rejecting our payments and adding late fees from earlier in the year that were supposed to have been covered by our state funding. The totals would spike from 950 to 1750 making it nearly impossible to keep up. We are genuinely trying our hardest to do the right thing and find a way to pay them as they have decided to “teach us a lesson on accountability,” but with me still recovering from surgery and taking care of our twins we are struggling to find a way to stave off this eviction for long enough to find a safe place to move. We have been so lucky to have support from our friends and family and we are so disappointed that it’s come to us asking for even more. Please, if anyone can help us raise the funds to pay off our 950 rent for December and late fees from the previous month (where we were two days late to their deadline and they rejected our payment) we might have a chance to negotiate more time and make the move easier for our healing family. We have until our court date on the 30th of November and I am hopeful we can make it.
Thank you for anyone who takes the time to read this and share our story, I never imagined I’d be facing eviction right after giving birth and I just need time for our family to heal and save before we are forced to move our lives and home.
