Medical Expenses for Paisley

On 27th January my brother, Jordan, and wife, Tori, gave birth to a precious baby girl, Paisley. After a tough labour, Paisley immediately got taken to NICU after discovering she had fluid on her lungs. After 2 days in NICU Paisley was doing really well and they were able to finally take her home. They thought the worst was behind them and they could now get used to their new lives together.

After her one week routine check up they found out Paisley had SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). This means she has no immune system therefore any infection could be detrimental to her health. 1 in every 60,000 babies are born with SCID, highlighting how rare this disorder is. Thankfully they were able to catch it early, which unfortunately isn't always the case and most babies don't make it past 2 years old unless treated immediately.

Baby Paisley will now have to endure chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant in order for her to hopefully live a healthy, happy life like any child should. Miraculously, Jordan is an almost perfect match for Paisley (which is very rare for a parent) so he will donate his bone marrow to her. After her treatment, Jordan and Tori will need to stay at Phoenix Children's Hospital for a minimum of 6-9 months whilst Paisley builds her new immune system. During this time they will have to isolate to keep Paisley healthy, meaning she will be almost one year old before any family or friends can hold her.

The medical care in America is second to none, some of the best in the world. Unfortunately that comes at a cost and, unlike us, they do not have the NHS to cover the cost of the treatment which could be well in excess of $60,000. Right now their primary concern is the health of their daughter and money should be the last of their worries.

I appreciate times are tough for many of us right now, but if you could give absolutely anything it would mean the world to them, and our families.

We will have to wait until Paisley is 3 months old before she can have the transplant as the chemotherapy can be harmful to her liver. I will do my best to keep everyone updated on her progress throughout.

Thank you in advance for anyone who has taken the time to read this and donate, we are so grateful.
