Charlie Needs Help!
Donation protected
When mother to be, Bela was 34 weeks pregnant,an ultrasound revealed that
her baby's left kidney was drastically larger than her right kidney. They were admitted to the hospital until sweet little Charlie was born. The doctors accelerated Bela’s induction date due to the serious complications. Charlie was born at 35 weeks and 6 days at 6:33 am on April 26. She was 6 pounds 3.5 ounces and 19.5 inches long. After spending a week in the NICU and the hospital, Bela and Charlie were finally sent home.
The nephrologist found a mass within Charlie's left kidney and referred the young family to a specialist. An oncologist at Vanderbilt explained that Charlie has a rare condition called DHPLNR that causes Wilms Tumors .
At less than 2 months old, Charlie began fighting cancer on June 9, 2022. She had yet another CT scan for her lungs, an MRI, a port surgically inserted into her chest,
and received her first of 19 rounds of chemotherapy. If the tumor does not shrink, the doctors will perform a partial nephrectomy to remove the tumor.
The good news is that Wilms Tumors have a high survival rate with proper treatment. The bad news is that the treatment plan is expensive.
The young parents, Eli, Bela, and baby Charlie are extremely grateful for all the prayers, love, and support that have been sent their way. They have said many times that they could not
walk this journey without God, their faith, family, friends, and their community.
Any donations that can be made to help them with their hospital stays, doctor's
appointments, surgeries, and Charlie’s chemotherapy treatments would be greatly appreciated by their family. Thank you and God bless.
