“Build A Better Bob Fund”
Many times in the past, I have been referred to as “Bob The Builder”, thanks to a cartoon. Now, its time to “Build A Better Bob”.
Three years ago, I’ve noticed a rapid decline in my energy level and overall health. It turns out, after living with Diabetes for 30+ years, the disease has taken its toll on my kidneys, and they have started to fail. For over 12 years, I have always been an active parent in youth sports. I have coached many teams, led numerous fundraisers, and I have sat on the Board Of Directors for the local youth soccer program. Now, it is extremely difficult to even show up and sit on the sidelines.
When I am not struggling to get the energy to work a full shift at my job, I pretty much am relegated to resting at home. My family is supportive and understanding, but I do see the concern and worry in my kids regarding my health. They are young, aged 9 – 16 years old, and I want to be there for them as they become adults.
It’s not all doom and gloom. I have been on a waiting list for a dual-organ transplant. The surgery will restore my lively-hood, and keep me around for many more years. My wife, Tracy, and I have cut as many expenses around the home as we can, we’ve been putting money aside, and are always looking for a cheaper way to do things. The unfortunate side of the surgery, I will be out of work for a minimum of 8 months. Social Security Disability for some reason, does not kick in until after a 5 month mandatory waiting period.
During the transition, we will be struggling to make ends meet. There are more financial commitments than we will be able to handle. IE: mortgage, insurance premiums, taxes, food, etc.
So, we are asking your help to “Build A Better Bob”. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated. We do want to stay in our home, and we want the transition to be emotionally easier for the kids. Just $10 from 10 people is as good as $100 from one person. So please, even if it’s a small donation, we appreciate it.
