Kaitlyns Recovery
On December 14th, Kaitlyn went to see her surgeon for a routine dilation procedure for her tracheal stenosis. Tracheal stenosis is a narrowing of your airway caused by scar tissue or cartilage malformation. Kaitlyn’s trachea was a diameter of 5mm, whereas a normal trachea is approximately 1.5-2cms.
During her dilation surgery, she aspirated and developed a pneumonia causing her to be extremely winded by even just walking across the room, requiring IV antibiotics and therefore more time off work.
Last week, her airway was even more narrowed which led to an emergency visit at the Royal Jubilee and placement of a temporary tracheostomy to bypass her obstructed airway. Kaitlyn will be off work for the near future for the surgeon to assess and plan for a more definitive airway solution.
Our goal is to alleviate the financial stress of her situation so she can recover at home fully before returning to work.
Kaitlyn is 33 and a Registered Nurse in emergency.
She works extremely hard, and did not let this pandemic slow her down.
She has picked up extra shifts where ever she could. Kaitlyn puts everyone around her first and is always offering her help no matter what it is.
If she isn’t working at the hospital she is spending her time with family and friends, hiking, working out or baking cookies for her cookie business, if you have tried her cookies or have seen them you know how incredibly talented she is, they are literal art work.
Due to Kaitlyn being off of work for the past 2 months and for the unforeseen future, we ask for any help, no donation is too small. Kaitlyn shouldn’t have to deal with the stress of her bills on top of her health.
Whether you are or aren’t able to contribute financially, I hope you are able to share this page on your social media.
