Mark Petit’s long road to recovery

Missing on Mother’s Day !

My name is Cindy Petit Lamanati & I’m writing on behalf of my brother Mark Petit.

On Mother’s Day, my husband and I were hosting a get together at my house and after the get together Mark was supposed to meet up with his friends but my brother Mark was late. In fact, HE NEVER SHOWED UP and WE COULD NOT REACH HIM BY PHONE.

Not being like him to miss a family event or a get together with close friends, my parents, and a few of his friends rushed over to his home in Seminole Heights to check on his wellbeing. When everyone finally got there, (between Stacey hoisting Luis into the unlocked window & Mom & Dad arriving at the same time with the key) they were horrified to find him in and out of consciousness on the floor of his home.

He had suffered a SEVERE STROKE some time on Friday and, since he lives by himself, he laid immobile on the floor of his home for almost 2 DAYS until we found him on Sunday (Mother’s Day).

With no food or water during those days, his medical condition was grave as the ambulance rushed him to St Joseph’s Hospital in CRITICAL CONDITION. Mark is a fighter and obviously fought for his life until he was discovered.

Mark has no medical insurance as he is self-employed.

Mark is one-of-a-kind person, an LOVING SON, AMAZING BROTHER and DEDICATED FRIEND to many. None of us can fathom what he went through for those two days unable to move due to the impact of the massive stroke.

Please send your PRAYERS and support. The LOVE of his friends and family mean the world to him and will help him recover from this medical emergency the best he can.

Mark has been an active member of the Jolly Roger Hash House Harriers since January 2009. Mark hashes a lot with the Tampa Bay Hash House Harriers and travels with his group of friends as often as he can.

His close friend Colleen told our family, “Once you meet Mark, you never forget him and all of his funny stories.”

Mark is very independent & is not one to ask for help, but HE NEEDS US ALL right now.

The doctors have told us the stroke was caused by a 100% blocked carotid artery resulting in a lack of blood flow and oxygen to the brain for 2 days.

He still lacks most function on one whole side of his body, but is now drinking and eating on his own and can even wiggle his toes and respond to our requests.

If you could PLEASE DONATE any funds you may be able to help Mark cover his medical expenses and physical therapy it would make a significant impact on his medical treatment and recovery.
