Our neighbor and dear friend, Felix, was taken by ICE from his job site on January 6th. In just four days, he has been transferred between three different detention centers across the country. He is now being held in El Paso, Texas, thousands of miles away from his home and family in Minnesota. He has no criminal record, no prior deportation, and has always worked hard to support his family.
Felix has been our neighbor for twenty years. He is the heart of his family, a devoted father, a loving grandfather to twelve grandchildren. He has been a pillar of our block for the twenty years he has lived here, and anyone who lives on our street knows Felix’s warmth. In the summer, his accordion fills the air, and it’s our signal that we’re welcome to gather, laugh, and celebrate together.
This is already a sensitive time in Minneapolis, after the killing of Renee Nicole Good and reports of more than 2,400 ICE agents now present throughout the metro area. His sudden detention has left his family devastated. They are now facing legal fees, travel costs, and the loss of Felix’s income, all while trying to navigate an overwhelming and frightening situation.
We are asking for support to help his family stay afloat during this crisis and to ensure Felix has the legal representation he needs to bring him home. Any amount, no matter the size, makes a meaningful difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this fundraiser helps more than you know.
